Question LG C7 OLED TV and Netflix Atmos

Hi
Have the LG OLED 55C7P TV and Onkyo NR656 (Atmos capable ) Receiver.

When I play an Atmos Netflix TV via the TV speakers only, I can see Atmos on the Netflix / Movie screen. However if I play the same movie through the Onkyo, I get Dolby surround only.

Onkyo plays Bluray Atmos DVDs and 4K Atmos content perfectly. So I am mistified that Netflix will not play Atmos via the Onkyo.

The TV sends Atmos as Dolby Digital Plus over ARC as lossless audio is not supported, so it may be that your AVR is showing that?

The Receiver shows Dolby Digital only not not Plus.
Then you may be better off asking in the C7 owners thread. I don't have an Atmos capable receiver so don't know which settings you need to adjust, but I know others do and have it working correctly.

Possible bugs, the TV supports DD+ Atmos over ARC and the receiver also supports DD+ Atmos over ARC so in theory it should work...

See what this fellow did to make it work with similar hardware. Is the firmware on the receiver and TV up to date ? try disabling CEC as well to see if that changes anything if it's enabled.

There's a setting on the TV (within the "Sound" section on the main settings menu on the left) which tells the TV what sound format to output over ARC and optical. Among the options are "Dolby Digital" and "Dolby Digital Plus". Check which this is set to. I had to change mine from "Plus" to non-Plus which fixed an issue where I wasn't getting surround sound from my PC input only stereo (over optical).
