LG C1 / Sonos Beam 2 eARC Help

Hi all

I've tried looking this up, but can't find an answer anywhere.

I have an LG C1 & Sonos Beam (gen 2).

Whenever I enable eARC, the sound format changes to "Dolby Multichannel PCM 2.0".

Whenever I disable eARC, the sound format changes to "Dolby Digital Plus 5.1".

For full overview, the other settings are:
  • HDMI Input = Bitstream
  • DTV Audio = Dolby Digital Plus
  • Digital Sound Output = Auto

If I change the digital sound output to 'Pass Through' the sound goes back to 2.0 regardless of eARC enabled or disabled.

Anyone help? Should I have eARC enabled and are the other settings somehow wrong? (I've tried many, many variations of the settings)

Thank you!

The Sonos app label may not be correct, its possible the actual sound format being output is Dolby MAT which is only supported via eARC, this decodes the DD+ & TrueHD audio as multi-channel PCM with Atmos support.

If you have an AppleTV or Xbox those will use Dolby MAT.

Thanks! Appreciate the reply.

Does that mean these are the correct settings?
  • HDMI Input = Bitstream
  • DTV Audio = Dolby Digital Plus
  • Digital Sound Output = Pass Through
& Then ignore the app
