Hi all,

Im look at the LG for my farther, I currently run a 46D8000 but hey wants a passive set due to the cheap glasses.

I cant seem to find many deals on 650 where as there are plenty on the 550. Is it worth getting the 550 or waiting for the 650?

Any one with some quick advice :lease: would be great.

Many thanks.

I'm in a similar boat (only for 42 or 47").
It appears that only the group of companies that Currys belong to (Currys, Dixon, PCWorld, Pixmania) have access to 650T stock.
On reading both 550T & 650T reviews here on AVForum the only real difference is the 650T is 200hz and the 550T is 100Hz and you probably don't need it.

My head says the 650T (it just sounds better) but in reality probably should save some and put towards my PS3 replacement

650 is exclusive to Currys/Dixons/PC World and yes, the main differences are the aesthetic design, the 200Hz on the 650 vs 100Hz on the 550 and to be honest I wouldn't pay the difference in price for that feature as most people do not even use the 100/200Hz functions because of the 'soap opera effect' it creates.

The 650 does have better black levels, better greyscale and colour gamut than the 550 and this is what your money would be paying the extra for along with the better IMO aesthetic design of the 650.

Cheers for the additional info on black levels. That helped my decision making. Off to Currys on Friday

At 42" the 650t is £749 and 550t is £699. Making the 650t almost a no brainer

But at 55" the 650T is £1499 and 550t at £1249 it's more of a decision to make.

I think at that size screen you would be better off with the spec of the 550T. better contrast level, 100Hz, etc (450 sets don't have SMART TV apps)
