    Have just bought one today,and have a couple of questions.

    A. does anyone have some ideal settings for the picture?

    B. until i get sky hd i have connected the sky+ box via scart,but i found that turning off the rgb setting in the sky box made a better picture,is one of the scarts on the tv rgb enabled?

    TIA marc.

    Have a look at the LG 42PC1D/R owners thread for some settings and tips.:
    http://www.avforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=338433

    AV1 is RGB enabled,
    AV2 is s-video and composite.

    The settings below are for proper d65 setup on a LG 50PX4D which is essentially the same set.

    PSM = user
    CSM = user - R=11 G=12 B=-25
    XD =on
    ACM= all settings here =1
    Contrast=78
    Brightness = 63
    Colour = 37
    Sharpness = 11

    Low power = on

    Can you try DVD via AV1 (RGB).
    Use some DVD with THX Optimizer (Star wars) and see if you can see the THX logo.
    There were 2 cases with faulty AV1 scart on the LG 42PC1R/D thread.

    Im sorry I have no clue about the rgb m8, other than as already stated, AV1 is the rgb enabled scart connection. Ive never used scart on mine.

    One other thing, I use those settings for all connections, component, hdmi etc and they give great colour representation all across the board. Skin tones are spot on and you will find it takes a bit of getting used too at first but stick with it because the colours will be correct with those settings in. You will find that most screens (and probably yours at the moment) are just too colourful but you will be used to those 'cartoon colours' at the moment.

    Oh yeh my original point..... if you use VGA, I use it for my xbox 360, there are very few picture options available with VGA. The problem you will have is that turning the power save feature on, as the settings require, will affect ALL connection types including VGA. So with these settings your VGA will appear very dark and you will need to do some tweaking to get it back right. If you use VGA I can post the settings I have that give me the correct brightness levels.
