Having just purchased my first plasma, which is an LG 42PX3RV, I was wondering just excactly why this TV isn't marketed as HD-Ready, whilst other plasmas with the same features, and other LG (LCD) panels ARE?

To my knowledge, the LG supports 480i/480p/720i/720p/1080i, and also sports an HDMI input at the back. Is it the missing 1080p that stops them from being able to claim HD-readyness, or did they just forget to pay the correct logo-licensing fee?

Hmm, it seems it has a resolution of 852 x 480.
This slipped through the cracks during purchase (impulsive one that it was) it seems.
I assume then that the 720 and 1080 resolutions are interpolated then? What the heck is the use of supporting 720 and 1080 lines if they're gonna be downscaled to 480 anyway.

Thanks for the help, and the revelation that I've made a dud purchase. I'm reasonably happy with the screen to be honest, but was really aiming for a 3-year, HD ready purchase. Can't take the thing back, so will probably try to flog it on fleabay or something. Any recommendations on a 37"+ LCD or PLASMA that's HD Ready for a 1500 pound budget?

heep the LG for 18 months as there is no HD material yet by which time there will be far more choice of "HD ready" sets with better PQ and lower price

Sound advice, cheers. Bottom line is that prior to this knowledge I was happy with the PQ anyway
