So dixons have the the LG 42PQ6000 for £500 with the 3TV voucher code.

I was looking for a new TV, i will be using pc input and PS3 for games and blu-ray .

I was wondering if you guys thought this is the right purchase.

I was going to get a B650 Samsung LCD, it's a lot more (750 a little more than i'd like to spend) but i thought maybe i needed lcd for my usage.

If you are going to offer up alternatives then it has to have USB connective to play avi and mpegs etc.

Don't get suckered into gimmicks like this mate. Some TVs can barely play image files !

If you're going to be gaming then steer clear of the LG as they are known for h
horrendous image retention. Having said that I actually love my LG, the natural picture makes others really look average.

Even though I don't like LCDs - judging by your usage it might be the better choice.

a 720p/1080p encoded x264 file ? I very much doubt it...

Think it'll be just divx/xvid at best but I'm only guessing.

Why not pop into comet or john lewis and give it a try ?

I bought the Samsung (b650 40inch for £760) and it's brilliant and it does indeed play 720p and 1080p x264 files, you just have to transfer the DTS into 5.1 (doesnt have the audio codec).
