I need to run a cable approx 6m to the other side of my room for my sub (Active 10" Gale)

Does the quality of the cable matter as it is only delivering LFE?

I already have a 10m cable which is fine, but I'm running the cables in the ceiling and once in, they aren't coming out!

    Thanks
    Pete.

The quality of cable is less important than normal speaker cables but I would suggest that if you intend to upgrade your sub at all that you think about buying something a little better than the bellwire freebie

I would suggest some RG59 (75ohm) cable and a couple of decent phono plugs. Easy enough to get the parts from Maplins and make the cable as long as you want.

    Hi Pete
If you are running the cable in the ceiling will it be close to existing 240v cables as poorly screened (cheap sub cable) could suffer from hum.Just a thought as you would be pulling your wig off if it did.
    Cheers Gonzo.:)

We tested a few subwoofer cables with a Quake the other day, there where large differences in bass quality, the QED QS something and the Audioquest G-Snake where way ahead of the other budget cables...

    I've never heard of a G-Snake. Is it anything like a Trouser-Snake :D

I made mine from some satellite co-ax and a couple of RCA plugs.
Works a treat and the best part is, it's exactly the length I wanted. :)

Thanks all for your advice - the hum I'm getting at the mo will be the crap lead being too close to the mains then!?

I'll make doubly sure that the mains is seperate.

    Thanks all.
    Pete
