Would you like control of the lights in your livingroom/cinema but:-
a. She/Landlord won't let you rip up floorboards to install extra spotlights and a dimmer.
b. you're not comfortable with installing a Futronix dimmer
c. Lutron is nice, but Oh dear, what a lot of money
d. You just want to dim the lamp on the telly

Well, I came across a company advertising in a style magazine that might be able to help without breaking the bank.

Have a look at www.microguard.co.uk They've got a remote controlled dimmer that you lights plug in to. Prices start from £24 to control one light, rising to £48 to control two.

Control is via RF (radio frequency), so it's not compatible with learning remotes, but RF control does mean that the dimmer can be hidden out of sight yet still work reliably.

I have no connection with the company - just thought this info could be of use to fellow projection enthusiasts.

    Regards
