LeMans was released in the UK yesterday - has anyone got it yet?

If so, how is it? Any extras?

shaunthedude - is the film slightly letterboxed for the first few minutes? The R1 version is - probably a mistake.

jhjerpe, what are you viewing it on? I think the R1 disc would look fine on a normal TV, but on a HD display, you can see some edge enhancement.

    Doh!!

You're right that both discs are letterboxed. I meant to say that the first few minutes of the R1 version are slightly pillar-boxed too. By that, I mean that there are black bars at the sides of the picture as well as the top and bottom.

The bars at the top and bottom are bigger in the first few minutes of the DVD than they are later on, which suggests that the telecine machine wasn't zoomed in enough at the beginning.

    Hi Marcus,

I think the telecine operator must have been on the wacky baccy for that title sequence. I guess he thought that for Joe Public and his mega-overscanning CRT, the titles would have been half off the edge of the screen. D'oh!

Theres a Le Mans making of film currently being made by the guys who did the Speed Merchants film, which covered the 1972 or 1973 World Sportscar Championship.
