Tom Hardy in talks to play both identical twins, Ronald and Reginald Kray in the gangster thriller Legend, to be directed by "L.A. Confidential" writer/director Brian Helgeland. The film will chart the tortured and unique relationship between gangsters Ronald and Reginald Kray, infamous for their criminal exploits in London during the 1950s and 1960s.

Im not sure if i need to see another film or doc about the twins, but Hardy could bring the best version.

I liked the 1990 version, but if anyone can sell another re-telling of the Krays story then Tom Hardy is the man. He was amazing as Bronson.

I actually came to the thread expecting a remake of that Tom Cruise/ Tim Curry fantasy by Ridley Scott :D

Totally agree with Bill. Tom has pulled off Reggie Kray perfectly in that still. Just like him.

I understand they are shooting the film at present. Would be ideal if Tom were to authenticate Ron by putting on a few pounds, just to get the look right. I just didn't get it when the chap who played Cornell in the 1990 movie called Ronnie a fat poof. Gary Kemp remained slim throughout the movie.

I'm sure the Krays would've been over the moon to find they were being played by such a fine actor as Tom. I remember watching him in 'The Take' and thinking how he'd be perfect as Ron Kray. An excellent choice of director too. Scorcese would possibly have worked wonders but I don't think Di Caprio could pull off the Kray twins. Haha

I exchanged a couple of letters with Reg back in the 1990's. I was shocked when he wrote back attaching a pic of himself with Ron and Charlie. I was always fascinated by the story of the twins.

Seriously looking forward to this movie.

I wasn't talking about the quality of the film, I was talking about the quality of Tom Hardy's performance therein.

You will get both in The Take fella...Well worth a watch.

Have to admit when I see Writer/Director/LA confidential Tom Hardy mentioned in one post it lights up great interest.

Thanks for the share. I was looking for this on YouTube this morning after a mention of it in good morning Britain but couldn't find it.

Note they've shown the 'cigarette punch' that Reggie always talked about. Seen at 0:00:52. This film has massive potential. I also suspect the Kray twins would've been over the moon to see themselves played by someone like Tom Hardy. They weren't impressed by the Kemp brothers.

I'd be on for that if Evangeline Lilly and Emily Blunt played naked fairies. Fact: Fairies don't wear clothes as it affect wind resistance.

    Haha !

Couldn't agree with earlier comments regarding the 1990 version being a load of sloppy dross. I thought it captured the era exceptionally well and performances all round were pretty top notch. No cgi involved and a decent all British cast in days when British movies in general were trashy and making zero marks at the box office.

Will 2 Tom Hardys be better than two actors each portraying a brother? time will tell. The fact is that the brothers didn't look alike from their late teens onwards. Lookalikes wouldn't have been a requisite.

I would have much preferred to have seen the sequel to the first get off the ground. It was to cover the trial process and the twins time in prison. It was to be titled 'Conspiracy of silence'. I remember reading that the Kemps may have declined the opportunity to reprise their roles.

I understand this movie is more authentic to the account recorded by John Pearson in his book. Bring on September!
