Left 4 Dead 3, Source 2 spotted in Valve offices – rumour

Photos said to have been taken Dota 2 players touring Valve’s offices this week seem to show the long-awaited Source Engine 2 and Left 4 Dead 3 in active development.

Competitors in Valve’s Dota 2 championships, The International, purportedly snapped the image below while touring Valve. It is said to show a list of updates to current Valve projects.

If you zoom in, you can see both Left 4 Dead 3 and Source Engine 2, neither of which have been officially confirmed – although Valve founder Gabe Newell is said to have confirmed that Source 2 is coming eventually.

A sequel to 2009 release Left 4 Dead 2 has been expected for some time, as there was only a year between the first two games. There’s no sign of Half-life 3 on the list, alas.

That Valve have people working on engine updates is hardly surprising. That some are occasionally fiddling with new Half-Life ideas has been known for a while, though it never seems to turn into a product they're prepared to put out.

And I'm sure I've seen rumours before about an L4D3. I rather suspect it would go down the TF2/DOTA route of payment-by-hat if it comes to fruition.
