Led Zeppelin to be sued over 'Stairway to Heaven' alleged rip-off - News - Music - The Independent

I am surprised it has never come up sooner here's a laundry list:

Led Zeppelin

There is Dazed and Confused - Jake Holmes played a song of that name, with chords, and lyrics in 1967 while opening for The Yardbirds. Jimmy Page was on guitar for The Yardbirds.

Although Holmes took no immediate action, he did years later send a letter to Jimmy Page in which he humbly requested acknowledgment and recompense.

Led Zeppelin opened for Spirit on their first US tour.

This was on the news in Toronto, Canada and I think it's a bunch of nonsense. The songs may "sound" similar but they're vastly different in tone, style and use. And only a very small part of the clip is similar if not exact, the rest of the clip is completely different. These things happen amongst musicians. Dance music artists should start suing each other in that case because most general dance music sound the same yet vastly different. lol.
