LED choice for 3/4 standard TV watching

Hi,

I am looking for a TV
- mostly standard TV watching - cable tv in germany (some PC movies , no Blu-ray yet,no gaming)
- Distance about 2 meters in fairly bright room
- Internet - nice to have but not worth paying much more
- no 3D

I decided on LED and size 32/37 (mostly because of price - max 450 EU / 380 British pounds. I don't think 40/42 will fit in my budget ?? and provide a good SD picture ??)

Below are the models I have been looking (kinda liked Philips and Samsung best):

Philips 32PFL5605 (about 400 eu - like new - from Amazon.de ) Is there any reason to pay 380 for Philips 32PFL5606

Samsung UE32D5000PWXZG - 400 eu new
( is it worth 475 to pay for Samsung UE32D5700RSXZG - it has additional S2 tunner, SatCR port, Astra 19.2 LCN and Smart TV and Apps - but the other specs seems the same ? )

LG 32LV5500 - 400 eu new

Toshiba 32SL833G - 370 new - not good reviews on Amazon.de
(is it worth to pay 450 for the Toshiba 32SL863G - ) - according to Toshiba only additional tuners is the difference - additional DVB-T2 and DVB-S / DVB-S2 (HD)

Let me know what you think

Viktor

If a fairly bright room, then reflections may be a problem with glossy screen models such as some of the Samsungs... I chose a Panasonic with a matt screen for this reason Vicktor, as we suffered reflections during daylight hours with our CRT TV, from light coloured furniture ect, even when the set was on.

1. The best scalling (zoom) from 4x3 to 16x9 have got Philips and Toshiba (Panasonic?)
2. Don't buy 5 series from Philips. Let buy 32pfl4606 or 32PFL6606.

Why do you recommend 4606 or 6606? Why are they better?

From what I see online the 5605(2010 year model) is about equal to 6606 (2011 year model and cost 520 EU) 5605 is praised for the good processor and brightness (450), which were both downgraded (brightness to 400) in the 5606(2011 year model)

4606 LCD- MT5395H (TPM7.1E) board&CPU by mediatek + digiatal natural motion
5606 LED - MT5366H (TPM6.2E) board&CPU by mediatek -
6606 LED - PNX855xx (Q552.2E) board&CPU by Philips + HD natural motion

5605 is better than 5606.

Top model is not good for SD content (IMHO), but several times better for HD (100 Hz matrix, very power CPU and so on).
For example, Panasonic HD READY plasma is better, than FULL HD in SD.
The very cheap LCD Toshiba 32AV833 is good for sd (it has got other troubles - on time and channel switching time are very long), but it is bad for HD.
You've took into account cheap Pаnasonic 32U3, C3, X3 and Sony 32CX520 (521,523) also.
Don't forget about zoom. You will see black bars or stretched face for 4:3 old standart in Samsung, LG.

I will take a look at the other Panasonic you mention.

On this note about Plasma - it is the first time I read about being better for SD. Is this a personal opinion or a general rule? If it is a rule, is it much better or just marginal?

The smallest full HD plasma is a 42" - you have posted about much smaller screens above :)

If you want to know about plasma, read the info at the top of the plasma forum

Looked at the plasma forum and models but decided to stay with LED

So from the models above - is any of them much better than the others for standard definition?
