Leaving Amps on 24/7

Cooky 560,
Try it for yourself and see what you think. Im not an electronics engineer and cant explain the science behind why it sounds better but it does. Both Naim and Nad recommend it, and im sure they know what they are on about. Sorry if this upsets some peoples pre conceived ideas/theories, but give it a try with an open mind and you may just be surprised:eek:
Kind Regards,
Clyde

Human aural memory is very short term so it is highly improbable that anyone would be able to reliably discern any genuine small changes to an amplifier’s output “sound” over a period of two days irrespective of whether or not they actually existed.

The only practical scientific way to test your claim would be to use a double-blind A-B-X type test of two similar amplifiers. One of the amplifiers would have been powered up for two days or so prior to the tests and the other amplifier would have been switched on just before the testing commenced.

For what it’s worth:

Quoting from the Quad 909 series Power Amplifiers owner’s manual:

“The MAINS On / Off switch should always be switched off when the amplifier is not in use”.
