Learning AV programming as a professional

Im trying to find information on getting into AV programming and job potential. I've been working in IT field for 10 years but recently been working with Crestron equipment and find it quite enjoyable. I have found some information on learning and getting more in to the AV side of thing s but its mostly old info. Can anyone give me some up to date info on places to look to learn and things i would need to know? Also what the job potential is like?

I have been looking at Crestron, AMX, Control 4.

Most control system companies run programming courses FOC for account holders.

However, note that being a programmer requries a strong understanding of how systems actually work, so as 101music suggests, it may be worth doing some more general training first (e.g. CEDIA CTS)
