Here's the set up...I've got the onkyo 405 dvd player with hdmi and the samsung 88bd which is hd ready (upscaling to 720p/1080i). I purchased a hdmi cable from UKHDMI and connected the dvd player direct to the TV. I then have an optical cable running from the dvd player direct to the onkyo amp.

Even with the hdmi cable I still seem to get wavy lines (if you look closely) on dark pictures/background and to be honest I'm not totally impressed with the picture. I was expecting something a lot better given that everyone is talking about the quality of hd. I used the settings on the v long 87/88 post but that didn't seem to make it improve much. Any ideas?

But what you are watching is NOT HD but a upscaled SD DVD picture with the DVD player doing the best it can in basically stretching the picture to suit the TV.

So are you saying this is the best picture I can get? Are there any settings that I may have missed?
