    Hello

A friend of mine is bringing his LCD AE100 pj over to test against my Barco 708. He, like many others lost in LCD/DLP hell, believes that his LCD is superior.
If you were doing this which disk would you choose to demo a CRT?
    Thanks for any input.

    Sammy

    Any disk you like.;)

I would use any thing with really good black detail.
    U571
    MI2
    Pearl Harbour
    Fifth element
    Are my favorites

Hard to be polite on this one! "Any disc you like" is about right or Lost in Space chapter 1 will give the game away. Failing that try The Matrix or U571 for really nasty LCD images that the 708 will make like film.

Virtually anything should look better on the Barco, but something like Final Fantasy should make them cry.

Just show them the test grid, they will never get colours like that on an LCD

Thinking on this more, this a brave man moving a working AE100, lets hope it is still working when it gets there.

Make sure the LCD has its lens cap on and no light is escaping from other orifices when you show the CRT.

Do make point of asking about all the lovely coloured spots that are displayed during the dark grey (for there are no black) bits when the LCD is shown. They call them Pixels that are within Spec. what they really mean are faults.
    :p

Sammy give us a report back good or bad.

There is only one disc that you need for this.

Dark City - Opening Scene. It's the LCD Killer.

High Contrast, extreme black levels, pure yet detailed whites, multiple angular imagery.

    Job Done. Film at 11'.
