Hiya guys, my son has a 26" Samsung LCD TV, it has 1 USB Port on the side. We recently bought him some USB Powered LED light strips, plugging them into the TV they work fine, but obviously there's only room for 1 set and we need both sets powered. When the TV is turned off the lights go off which is perfect, so ideally I need to power both sets from the TV.

If I was to buy a USB Hub (with say 3 USB Ports) will this work? Will it power both LED strips? The strips are pretty short, maybe 90cm each. So if the Hub goes into the TV essentially turning ther single port into 3, could I then plug 2 sets of lights into the Hub and they power?

Anyone have any idea? Thanks.

USB ports are normally specified at 500mA load.
If you used a self powered hub i.e. powered from the TV you would still have that total current limit.
If you were to use a USB hub with an external power supply then the LED strips would be on all the time.
