lcd screen smashed - sony klv-15sr2

    I just bought sony klv-15sr2 lcd tv, my son smashed the screen, do not have accidential damage. Sony want £220.00 plus vat for new screen only paid £299.99 for tv. Can I get cheap LCD panel anywhere. Or can I use tv part for anything else.

    Are you absolutely sure you didn't add accidental damage to your home policy before this happened?

    If you are sure you are not covered.

    You could.

    Then take the screen apart and remove the lcd panel, on the reverse will be the manufactures part number (It's likely it will be a Samsung panel). You will at least no what sort of panel to ask for. Search the net for suppliers - it would also be cheaper from Samsung.

    Have have done this with many Dell notebooks - but the part number is key.

    Thanks, I done that and I am looking for LG Philips LC150x01 panel. There are loads of notebook panels LP150x01 for sale, but can not find tv one. Can I put Notebook panel in LCD tv.

    Notebook and Pc Displays don't have the same viewing angles as TV panels - it must be the same part Number or an equivalent. The supplier must tell you that the panel is a suitable replacement.

    Service Source - do supply panels - the Number you supplied is not the correct manufactures part number - LG Panels part No. start with an 'I' so I'm told.

    Ring them on 01925 - 260 830 - they may be able to help they normally supply Dell only - but should be able to help.

    Thanks, but they can not help, said too expensive to get parts for sony tv.
