Does anybody know the expected life of an lcd screens lights? I have a jvc dvl 100 which is 18 months old, i looked at a brand new dvl 150 recently and the screen is much brighter.

I have heard that eventually go but when ?

I wouldn't be surprised if they have updated the LCD screens between models and the newer model has a much higher light output that your model.

You shouldn't notice any dramatic effects on your LCD screen in the short term (>5 years) unless it has been subject to heat, sunlight or pressure on the screen itself.

Check the specs between the two and you'll probably just see they use a different LCD.

You could also check the brightness on your LCD viewfinder just in case its just been set lower :p
