I was wondering what other people think of sound quality from current LCD and plasma sets. Considering the costs, usually well over £1000, the speakers are smaller than CRT portable sets and to me the sound quality just doesn't seem very good compared to picture quality.
I was just interested how many people play TV sound thro' AV equipment to either compensate or to generally improve sound for home cinema/special effects. Do you think to get the best from these sets the sound should come thro' extra AV equipment?

    Thanks in advance CW

My Loewe Concept32's sound is great & thats one of the main reasons I went with it & dind't go with a LG (LG has 10w only & only 3 stars for sound in reviews I read at the time)

It is a bedroom set & has no additional AV amps/speakers etc so it had to be good in the sound dept !

I have just bought a JVC LT37 and although I usually have my sound coming through my surround sound system, the few times I have listened to the sound direct from the TV the quality has impressed me.

I reckon the speakers on most LCDs are probably adequate for watchin Eastenders, but you will probably not be 100% happy if you want to watch something like Star Wars and feel you are totally immersed in the film.....set up my surround system last weekend and now wonder whether I will ever be able to watch a DVD without it.......but while just watching a bit of sky the TV speakers are more than adequate.
