I'm starting to think about replacing my current TV; a 3yr old Philips 28PT4456 CRT. I read various pros and cons of LCDs and Plasmas but as I'll be using it mostly for next-gen consoles, Microsoft Xbox360 and Nintendo Revolution (I realise the Revolution is not capable of HD) which of the two types of screens would you recommend for consoles, and why. I'm not too bothered about which is better of future HD TV broadcasts, as it'll be mostly used for games then DVDs.

    Thanks.

    1) LCD's offer more pixels. LCD at 26",30,32",40",42",44" can offer 1366x768 pixels. AFAIK Plasma at 50" are 1366x768 those at 42" are 1024x768.

    2) LCD's are much lighter, if you are playing games you may want to shift the screen around the house.

    3) Plasma can suffer from screen burn, latest models have some sort of bobing display to avoid this.

    4) HD Plasma's usally more expensive, but it depends what size you want.

    5) Plasma's better blacks reportedly.

    6) LCD's better response times.

There are a few generalisations, let the games comence....

You would get a different answer if you posted in the Plasma forum:-
