I have now found myself well and truly jammed between a rock and a hard place.why?
wel,l I will be sending my hs10 back for the second time shortly.
The appearance of dead pix everywhere and the occasional lamp start prob has really got my goat.
However I am really happy with its performance through hcpc and don't mind the wait for a replacement.
BUT! and a very big but at that!>>>>
I have been offered this projector at not much more money.

The sharp xv-z9000e reveiwed here:- http://www.whatvideotv.com/testbench/VideoProjectors/Sharp/SharpXV-Z9000E.php[/url][/ur

The unit is new and comes with a dead pix check, but I will be buying blind(not demoed).I expect it to be better than the hs10 just because of the price bracket but i'm not sure.

    So do i stick!OR TWIST:D ?

I prefer DLP and it seems to have less issues that LCD, so unless you suffer from the rainbow effect, go for it. :)

How come it's so cheap though? Not buying it from E-bay I hope....

If you don't like it, you can easily sell it on without making a loss.

Quite a few people here ordered some Panasonic projectors there, and they all gave them a big thumbs up. The only negative was someone had to send one back when it went faulty, and it wasn't cheap.

It's a bargain all the same though. You should at least try to see one first hand though...

Are you sure its a z9000 and not z90. A z9000 at 1/3 price (guess) would be making more of a fuss on these boards.

I have an MT8 on demo for the whole of this BH weekend and a HT1000 coming next Tuesday. If you want to see the MT8 in action then you are welcome to pop over on the weekend. You know where I am.

If so drop me a PM and we can exchange numbers again and discuss.

    Regards

    Neil

The PJ price on the XV9000 is £2764 plus taxes. Good price.

Also, how are you getting a pixel check out of them? They flat refused to do this when I mailed ("we will not open the box"). Any clues?

Well, who do i respond to first.

The first thing i need to say it is def, that it is the sharp xv-9000z,i just had an email fro kaneda(price japan)confirming.

Neil,hi,and thanks for the offer,But i think the mt8 is going to be a bit out of my price range.whats the ht10000? havnt looked at that.

As far as the hcpc goes, yes great with the hs10 via dvi,but who knows what the sharp will be like via vga?

The thing for me is this- this sharp, is some machine ,only realy surpassed by its big brother the 10000z(dvi)Reveiws read)(But way out of my rang. The size of the machine is quite large hinting at some nice inards,it is also supposed to be quiet. So reasoning that the price level where talking about, has better performance than the hs10(assumtion)I wont mind selling my hcpc and buying a good dvd player feeding component to the pj.

With the reveiwers giving a guide price over here at £8,800 its got to be worth a try for £2764    .

my arm is being twisted but still undecided, come on guys give me a push:p

A BIG SORRY ABOUT HE DEA PIX CHECK TOO,I MISS READ TH E-MAIL(THEY DONT OPEN THE BOX PRIOR TO SHIPPING.......

Vulkan - no worries about the pix check! I was just hoping it was a recent policy change! :)

Good luck - I am feeling for you - making a decision is very hard when it comes to PJ's :(

Well for that price & given the reviews it's rec'd, I'd say:

    Go for it m8

    £2.8k for a 10/10 PJ @ >£8k - can't be bad, DVI or no DVI.

Started me thinking now you have ;)

Hi Kramer,Your exactly the type of person that i was hoping to start "thinking" that means I'm on to soething right!?:D

Wow this is stroke causing stuff(and i love it).:zonked: :zonked:

Ok,anybody bought fro price japan?I just want to know what kind of taxes i will be paying on this thing.

Kaneda said he could write down its price for import--value £1622.68.also its tered a coputer product,so should save soe there.
You price japan customers what percentage extra did you pay tax?
Could you give an exaple breakdown?

Are you happy with their service?

Tax is just VAT IIRC - especially as they mark the product as "computer display" which doesn't have any associated duty charge.

So just expect to pay the normal 17.5% vat rate on top of what ever is quoted in the value declaration.

Also, they ship via DHL so in this instance, DHL will pay the VAT then send you a bill in the post later (sometimes several months later from what I've read).

I've not yet had the courage to buy anything from PJ but I have considered it. There was a very large thread when the AE300 came out with lots of people buying from Japan so try and find that if you can.

Also, Kramer and others (Comer?) got their HS10's from Japan as well so maybe they will chime in next time they are passing through...

    Regards!
