i have a recurring issue with the display on my toshiba satellite. the display will often flicker and then eventually go dark. when i get very close to the screen i can see the display. there is a pin like thing close to the hinge of the screen that can be tapped to revive the screen temporarily. this pin is depressed when the lid is closed to turn off the screen.

so basically the display thinks that the lid is closed when it isn't.

    does anyone have any suggestions?

my first thought was to see if there was anything blocking the connection that the pin touches when the lid closes, but i am very nervous about taking apart my computer far enough to get to the circuit. i was also hoping to find a way to change the settings so that the screen does not turn off when i close the lid but i cannot seem to find anything to that effect on my own. if anyone knows how to do this it would be perfect!

    thanks!
