LC17 video editing HTPC thread

The first bits arrived today.
I will post as the bits arrive, then as I assemble and test.
I have built one PC before, {mumble} years ago when my daughter went to university.

Arrived today:

Intel Core i5 Processor - Unlocked and Unleashed

Asrock Extreme 4 Gen 3 Motherboard
Hang on - the box says P67

Checked the search on Amazon and the search for the Z68 also returns the P67

So I've processed the retun on the P67 and ordered the Z68 which should arrive by the end of this week.

Measure once, cut twice ....grumble...grumble...

This could be a very long thread.

Configuration so far:

Mobo: Asrock Extreme 4 Gen 3 Z68
CPU: Intel Core i5 2500KM
RAM: 8Gb Kingston Hyperx DDR3 1600 MHz
PSU: OCZ 750W ZT modular power supply
Case: Silverstone La Scala LC17
HDD: WD 2.5" 750Gb Scorpio Black 7200rpm 3Gb/s 16Mb cache
SSD: Crucial CT064 M4 SSD 6Gb/s

Icy Dock MB990SP-B Dual 2.5" to 3.5" SATA SSS/HDD Bracket should take both SSD and HDD and fit them into one 3.5" drive bay (not that I'm short of drive bays, just a neat solution).

The replacement MoBo has turned up and it will take me several days to read and understand all the sections in the MoBo manual.

I will try and post very simple step by step instructions as I go because that is the way I will be working

Everything here but the case.
Memory, PSU and case were sent out as two packages on the same shipment.
PSU and memory turned up first thing yesterday morning.
This is the tracking history of the case.

So it has been on its travels to Scotland and back.
Who knows, it may turn up today if "In Transit" means that it is out for delivery.
Otherwise, some time next week.

Finally turned up on Wednesday.
I've spannered all the bits together in a great untidy heap with cables and bits of stuff everywhere and after one false start with memory not seated properly it is now running and I am posting this from it, under 64 bit Ubuntu.

I have taken photographs and notes, so a proper build description to follow once I have spent as long again tidying everything up into the final configuration.
