I’ve had a DV78 for about 7 months now. Since I bought the unit I have had problems with the image freezing during playback. The image usually freezes for a few seconds. Sometimes it freezes completely and I have to turn off the player. Originally I thought it was a layer change issue. Recently though, I was watching the Star Wars Episode IV DVD and the problem got significantly worse. The image freezes and then skips ahead a few seconds. During one 8-10 minute section this happened almost 20 times. Is this a standard layer change issue or is there something wrong with my player? I’m new to the A/V arena so any help would be appreciated.

This is not a layer change issue, it is more likely to be disc condition problem or a laser assembly problem, I would get the player back to your dealer who can take it from there.
