after reading a few of the previous posts about the radeon HDTV adapter i left a little confused if i should get one. And indeed where form.
are they available in UK yet?
    are there any alternatives?
i read a few posts about using a VGA to BNC to RCA for component, but not sure how and if this works.

really what i want is a progressive scan output in NTSC to (soon to be mine) Toshiba TV.
hope this makes more sense than my post yersterday which no one has yet replied to :p
    thanks.

    Hi apul,

I've got one of those Tosh TVs and am planning a very similar thing to you.

From the reading I've done I have found the following things:

    1) Don't think you can get the radeon HDTV adapter in the UK, and any way it's not meant to be very good.

    2) You can get VGA to BNC leads but unfortunately they only work for TVs/PJs that accept RGB component not, Y/PbPr which is what our TV needs. Shame, cos they only cost about £20 max.:(

    3) If you want to output Y/Pb/Pr component video from a VGA card you need a VGA to component transcoder, the one produced by Audio Authority seems to be the on to go for according to the majority on the AVS forums. Have a look at: http://www.smarthome.com/77706.html it's the VGA-Component one you're after, not the RGB to VGA one.

    HTH
Let us know how if you find anything else out,
    Owain

any one got one of those VGA to Component converters
heres list of the ones i seen on US websites:
*RCA's VHDC300 VGA Video Adapter to Component Video
    *Key Digital's KD-VTC1 VGA to Component(Y-Pb-Pr) Converter
*Audio Authority's 9A60 VGA to Component (Y-Pb-Pr) Converter

just to clarify something; 480p is ntsc? what is the line number for PAL? 575 or 540 or 560?

-edit, forgot that u already suggested the 9a60, i need to go to bed. is there any uk supplier?

also is there any possibility of getting the curcuit diagram? my brother thinks it might be easy to make or do u think theres some kind of processing? this would be interesting to find out.

    cheers

PAL has 576 active image lines out of the 625 available.
