Anybody else having problems with the nvidia drivers.
I have a Acer Aspire X3200 (quad core version) with Geforce 8200
HDMI audio worked fine out the box, but when i upgrade the drivers either through Windows update or through Nvidias website it results in the sound turning into static blips.
I then have to rollback the drivers to the previous version.

Uninstalling and nuking the mess left by the uninstaller (Driver Cleaner Pro is old but still effective) fixes most Nvidia update/reinstall problems.

Otherwise your options are probably between learning about mixing driver releases (or finding someone that already did it) or rollback and waiting for a fix. Took nearly a year last time they broke my install though and it seems a regular occurrence.

Nvidia drivers sometime get quite really clumsy. Updating them is good but make sure you make restore point before installing new drivers.
