    Hi,

Ok I posted something similar in the Cables forum but didn't get any replies to my questions, thinking I might get a better answer here.

Anyway, going to get my first home cinema kit on saturday. Kef KHT 2005(mk1) and a Sony STR-DB940.

    Now two questions:

    1) I have a coaxial digital cable that I use to record to my minidisc player, can I use this cable to connect the receiver and dvd player? Will this be sufficient?

    2) I am going to get the QED Qudos Original Cable at £2.75 per metre. Will there be any difference between the banana plugs used? Superfi are offering 4 PROFIGOLD PGA8113 for £6.95 or 1 QED AIRLOC for £4.99. Now obviously the QED plug for all five cables will cost quite a bit, so will there be much difference between the two? I only want them to make things less messy.

Also, will these plugs fit into my speakers/receiver?

    Cheers,
    Chris

Is there a big difference in banana plugs then?

I'm also wondering will my receiver accept banana plugs? I've heard there are plastic seals you need to break or push through?

I was thinking partly about the weight. The banana plugs I use are extremely heavy and would possibly be pulled out of the Eggs by there own weight and that of the cable. The other point is cost. These are very light plugs with a large gold contact area.

The binding posts on most amps have little plugs in the centre of them. These can generally be prised out to reveal a 4mm hole.

Oh right, what plugs are you using then?

The PROFIGOLD plugs don't appear to be heavy, they look quite lightweight...

Are the binding posts the black and red inputs that you twist the cable into?
