Are there any good websites for sourcing Laser disc movies, the ones I've found just seem somewhat... what's the word... dodgy ?

    thanks in advance

I be surprised if you can buy laserdiscs on the net nowadays. All the big websites are no longer around.

I can only think of ebay at the moment.

Whats wrong with DVD's? I own both and allthough the sound on LD is far superior the picture quality isn't. What u gain in one area you loose in another.

Well... you see, the problem is, that there are one or two films that I am trying to get hold of, that haven't been released on DVD, but were on Laser disc, I am also trying to get hold of the original Star Wars movies, prior to GL mucking around with them, these as you may have guessed, weren't released on DVD, but were on LD....

    cheers

Ebay is probably your best bet these days.

Apart from Star Wars, which titles are you after?

The Star Wars trilogy on LD used to go for anything up to £100 before the DVD's came out. It can still go for over £50.

I got mine for £18 per SW film from Disc Emporium before they stopped selling LD's.

The movie that I'm desperately trying to get a hold of is Robinson Crusoe on Mars, which is a 1964 movie starring Adam West, directed by Byron Haskin.
I am aware that this was released on LD, however not on DVD...

have you tried these 2 sites:

    www.pictureparadise.co.uk based in Lincoln

    www.movieboulevard.co.uk based in Leeds

I have used these companies previously and would recommend both. Both also have shops as well as trading on the net. To find Movie Boulevards list of used laserdiscs click on DVD and a used laserdiscs button will appear on the first page. I am always on the lookout for certain laserdiscs so if anyone knows any other sites please let me know. :)
