Large Plasma TV, distance and playing Wii

Hi,

I am gonna buy a new TV and the viewing distance is about 5 m (= 17 feet). I am considering a 64" Plasma, Samsung PS64D8005.
I have two questions.

1. Is a 64" TV suitable for this distance?
2. The TV will be used a lot for playing Wii. Will the picture be totally unviewable with a TV at this size? The Wii doesn't support HD.

Thanks! And a happy new year! :)

I plug the Wii in my Yamaha amp which up converts component 480p into a 1080i output, which then goes via HDMI into my Samsung 59D6900. We are about 12 foot away and it looks great! Well it is still a wii so comparatively and no worse than on my previous 43" Pioneer

I play the Wii through component cable to media box @ 480p TV ups it to 1080p, TV is a 50" and play at about 4 to 8 foot it varies on what we play, but it looks damm good to me.

A 42" LCD is a 42" LCD though what more do i need to say ;).

Our Wii looks great on a 51'' D8000, max viewing distance is 10ft. It's running through component in game mode. How do you get a Wii remote to work at 17ft, ours are on the very edge of the sensor bar at 10ft.

The missus uses the Wii in our house and I've set it up using an HDMI adaptor which upscales it to 720p or 1080p. Playing distance is about 7 feet and it looks fine.
