The phone has 40-70% when I go to sleep and lost almost or all that by morning. I have tried the usual tips to turn off location etc but no difference. Diagnostics to Apple turned off. My GFs 7 has started doing the same. Battery health says ok 85% on mine.

Edit - 11.4.1 just appeared and installed. It doesn’t mention fixing this but who knows. My GF installed it when it appeared on her phone yesterday too so maybe that will help.

When there is a huge drop like that then in my experience the phone is hunting for a connection, it maybe switching between Edge, 3G and 4G to try and get the best signal. Especially if this has happened all of a sudden, there may be an issue with the transmitters that are nearby.

You’re getting near the battery replacement threshold of 80%.

Battery could be on its way out. Mine would lose 40% charge in 10 minutes with a battery health of 68%.

Just to update - the issue went away as quickly as it arrived and it coincided with the last update.

If it was out and about it could be towers and signal strength but this was at home from say midnight until morning. Maybe work was going on and signal strength was down for a few nights.

I am in a Canberra so asked here as it very quickly rules out a common issue with the specific phone. Chances it was the update that fixed it seems slim to me.

All good and thanks for the replies. If the battery needs replacing in a bit due to that health number, I think I’ll look for a new phone :)

I don’t think it is expensive as such - my 6Plus is sometimes a bit “freezy” when opening or switching apps - and yes that is true with only one app open.

Then again it is 3 years old and with a new battery will last another 3 easily the way I use it.

Apple will soon exclude it from updates I’m sure so at that point I would upgrade. This was an upgrade from a 4S which was working just fine :)

You’re like me then, as i went from a 4 to a 6 after 3 years. I’ve had this 6 for nearly 3 years. But i’ll probably hang on to it for another year or so.

My bet is that there were some maintenance works on a local cell tower. Good to hear it is back to normal again.
