Laptop won't detect router but PS3 will (Virgins Netgear WRG614)

My friend has the cable router so he has to connect it to the virgin modem. His ps3 will detect the wireless router but he doesn't know where to find the WPA-PSK key?

Also his laptop won't detect the router at all wirelessly. I put in the disc that came with it and when it comes to the second to last option where you enter a name for the router and a password, it just fails to find it.

Any ideas on the problem. Failing that any recommendations on a cable router that works well with the ps3 and a laptop?

Thanks for your time

errr if its a pack supplied by Virgin, then I suspect the key is either in the user manual, or printed on the bottom of the router...or you choose your own, using the installation CD

if its a Netgear retail pack router, then it ships without a WPA key, you have to log into it and invent one yourself ...again, reading the manual tells you all this in very simple steps :smashin:

you access the router by plugging the laptop into it with the supplied cable and typing in the browser NETGEAR Support Home Page the default username is "admin" and default password is "password"

you set up the wireless on the "wireless settings " page

type in something like "mywpakey" as the password and do the same on the PS3 ...and thats it really :)
