laptop trouble

hello if I switch off my laptop and remove it from the mains when I reboot it says checksum error I press F1 and it reboots normaly but the clock is reset to 000 and date to 2003 is this the bois battery? if so where would i get one as i have tried everywhere without success It has wires on it and is like a watch battery,this only happens if the machine is left off for along time ie over nite otherwise it runs ok
laptop is a hi grade 1557g

If you can get to the cmos battery take it out and there will be a number on it, you should be able to get a new one from hardware stores, watch battery sellers or probably get them from camera shops.
