    Hi All,

I am trying to connect my Toshiba qosmio laptop to my samsung plano 32" TV, however when connected the display on the TV is black and white only.

I am connecting from the svideo out on the laptop to the scart socket on the TV using an svideo to scart cable.

Any help or advice would be appreciated

Is it an S-video 4 pin to Scart cable or a scart to S-video 4 pin cable (they are different it sould be the former
Is the scart in the TV capable of S-video and set to recieve S-video?

I have an acer laptop, i have to turn on a utility called acer emanager and it turns on the s-video socket. Make sure that you have the tv on the right channel also. I plug the s-video into the front of my tv, its confusing because when i plug something in 2 the s-video the channel must be on Av3S to be in colour. If its just on Av3 then the output os black and white. If this doesnt work and aslong as your laptop has a VGA or Dvi port you can get converters, for example you can buy from ATI a Dvi to RGB adapter. I hope this helps

    Thanks for the info.

The cable is an S-video 4 pin to Scart cable. The manual for the TV doesn't state whether the scart socket is capable of taking Svideo and I am trying to track down the answer to this and whether it can be set to use Svideo

I would assume it does not support S-video by the black and white picture, if the LCD has a VGA socket then you could try that route. Funnily enough my Sony Vaio doesn't have S-video out, just VGA out.
