    hi
after some thought ive dcided im probably gonna plump for the logitech z-550 5.1 speaker set to use with my laptop. However because im using it with a laptop and my onboard sound card aint great, it also means im probably gonna need a new external soundcard - any suggestions? I've looked at the creative audigy 2 pcmcia one but have heard it can be difficult to connect with speakers that aren't made by creative? Im a also feeling a little reluctant about going for a usb one as ive heard they cant handle the data stream and can only recreated dolby eax and dts through software rather then hardware. any thoughts or ideas would be great. my laptop spec is:
    p 4m 2.4ghz
    640mb ram
    60gb hard disk
    geforce 4 440 go 64mb
    on board sound
    usb2 and firewire ports

im looking to spend a max of around £100 on the soundcard.

the audigy 2 nx usb does indeed look pretty good but as with the pcmcia one there is a question over wheteher its compatible with logitech z550 speakers, also unlike the pcmcia one it does have thx auth and im not sure if it supports proper dts.

I'm messing about with an Maudio Transit which I beleive will pass thro DTS/DD,I'm only using it to stream WAV files wireless to a Sonic Impact T-amp via some cheapo Mission speakers and I'm well impressed.
There are other USB solutions here
that maybe better ie the Sonica Theater etc
