I have an old laptop (1.1GHz Advent) that was working OK with XP on it but had some old programs on I wanted to get rid of. So yesterday I decided to format the hdd and re-install XP.
Everything has installed OK, but it is really slow - it takes ages to boot up (about 5 minutes) - it never used to do this. I'm not really a laptop expert, so if anyone has any ideas I'd be pleased to hear them.
P.S. The only thing I can think that is different from the last setup is that I've formatted NTFS instead of FAT32.

I'd be inclined to try a re-install again, every now and again you get a duff install that works but is buggy as hell, especially if your install disk is less than perfect.
