Laptop hard drive question

    i have a dell but looking at new HD are all 2.5`s the same or does it have to be a HD from a dell the drive is a samsung 80gb at the moment.

    As long as it's the same interface (SATA or IDE) then you can replace it with any other one. I've done it loads of times with Dell Lappy's recently.

    They are all made to a similar standard, and no manufacturer would dream of not dual sourcing their disks. I swapped the 40GB Seagate drive in my Inspiron for a 7200rpm 80GB Hitachi with no probs.
