    Hi guys,

I want to start to rip my Blu-ray collection to an external hard drive. I have around £300 for the laptop itself but in terms of the spec and processor I should be looking for is where I am stuck.

    Thanks guys!

    Are you transcoding or remuxing?

If you're just remuxing then it's pretty simple and isn't going to add much time on top of reading the disc with whichever laptop you go for. I wouldn't even bother with a new machine for it, just beg/borrow/buy second hand.

If you're transcoding then have you decided whether you're going for HEVC or VP9? Unless you want to use the CPU for it (slower but more tweakable) then you'll also need to find out whether your software supports Quicksync, VCE/VCN or both.
