Laptop firewires?

I posted sometime ago about what is the best laptop for DV editing and amongst some excellent advice one of the requirements was that I would need an external hard drive connected via firewire, therefore a laptop with 2 firewire connections would be preferable. In one of the Video editing mags this month an article on this topic reviews 4 laptops none of which carry 2 firewires. Therefore is that important?

You dont need 2 on the laptop. My external HD has 2 , so the camcorder can be connected to that and HD connected to Laptop via firewire.
