    I walked into Computer World today, the new Time/Tiny outlet for pc's.

    I'm looking at good laptops for a poss HCPC for several reasons;

    slimline, general cosmetics on a kit rack, built in local monitor, nowadays they are quite well spec'd, portability, can also do games and internet, 'style':D :rolleyes: .

    Anyway, Time had a fairly good deal on the Time Traveller 1600 CD-R 15.1" Notebook (normal monitor is 14.1"). Normally RRP is £1644 incl. vat. So for £1099 it's good value, even though they have downgraded the HD to 30GB from 40GB and the memory from 384MB to 256MB. Allowing for that at say £150 it's still £400 cheaper!

    Food for thought. The only thing I wasn't totally struck on was the keyboard was a mite springy! Apparantely it's because it's new! Of course it is.:rolleyes:

    Didn't buy one as I only had £40 in my wallet and my wife won't let me carry a credit card. Before you ask, the APR is 29.9% and even I'm not that dumb.

    the P4 (non-mobile) laptops all have a decent HTPC spec,
    though I haven't tried mine yet for this purpose.

    decent ati gfx, dvd & optical out... there's a few places doing these between £1150-£1500 depending on spec, memory, CDRW.
