Not actually for myself, a friend of mine needs a new laptop as hers has given up the ghost. Just thought I'd see if anyone had any recommendations/good deals. Thank you :)

What is your budget? Preferably under £500, but if it was a good buy she could go up to £700 probably

What size laptop do you want? 13" would be best

Do you have resolution requirements? Nope

What will you be using the laptop for? Web browsing, watching 4od and iplayer etc, basic university work (word, powerpoint etc). Would like something with a fairly speedy start up, not too slow.

How long does the battery need to last? Fairly long, will be taken to and from university

Does it need to be portable? As light and as portable as possible.

Do you require Blu-Ray? Nope

Do you require HDMI output? Nope

Do you have a preferred brand? Not really

Are there brands you would prefer to avoid? HP, her last laptop was an HP and it was awful so I'm pretty sure she wouldn't buy another one.

Would you be happy with a refurbished laptop? Possibly, but would prefer new.

Any other details you feel necessary... She would like something fairly fast, very portable, doesn't need any fancy bits although it would need a webcam. A longer warranty would definitely be a bonus.

Thank you very much :)
