Laptop - Budget £350

Hi all,

A friend of mine is looking for a laptop for his daughter (and himself and his partner, as it will be their first and only computer) as a Christmas present.

His budget is £350.

It will mainly be used for browsing, some kids' games (nothing too graphically intensive), skyping family abroad, and watching media.

I've heard that Sainsbury's are offering some pretty good deals, both online and instore, and have also seen the following online:

SONY-VPCEH1J1E at Comet for £349

ASUS-X54H-SX105V at Comet for £349.99

I was wondering if anyone could offer any advice or alternatives.

Thanks very much in advance.

The Sony uses a slower Pentium B940 cpu compared with the Core i3-2310m in the Asus - otherwise they are fairly similar specification wise.

Out of those two, I would definitely go for the ASUS which is a great price for the spec and I've always found ASUS to be of great build quality.
