You'll probably find furniture makers will be reducing 'Barcelona' style chairs down to £500 or less... these IMO are very good for watching movies. Enough tilting back to be really comfy and make you not want to get up, but they won't do your back in!

ANy idea on the size of 2 parts. My smallest gap is 28 inchs(71 cm) then 81 cm. WIth longest 193 cm. Juggling those 3 is tricky
Its amzing how many sofas wont fit.

My door frame is only 28" wide, but I want one of those £699 jobbies.
If they come in 2 peices like you say, it should fit somehow!

I've always spent money on my equipment, only to sit in an uncomfortable cheap Ikea chair that gives me back-ache after a while.

I can't afford 2 of them, so guests will have to sit in the Ikea chairs.

I'm going to get one, and it can go in the sweet-spot... right in middle of the screen. After all, its my hobby.. its my cinema... I'm going to have MY seat!

I only weigh 9 and half stone, but after a nights viewing, every chair I've had forms a bottom print and gets really uncomfortable with little support.
Are these lazy-boy chairs really up to the job for regular Home Cinema sessions?

chaps, I bought 2 recliners for £170 each from Homebase... after sitting in about 50 different recliners, I'd say these were in the top 5 for comfort and in the top 3 for price!!

have a look at www.stalefish.ukonline.co.uk for a few pics (on the last page) they come in black or cream and are shippid in two peices.

My La-z-boy cool chair arrived this morning from AVSales.

Apart from the fact that they ignored my request to send a small delivery van (meaning because of access problems, me and the delivery guy had to carry it 200 yards up a steep hill!), it went smoothly and arrived in perfect condition.

How comfortable is it? Well, as an ordinary chair it is quite comortable but nothing special. Recline it a bit and.... oh my! zzzzzz, you can't help but fall asleep!... especially with the massager on.
In fact, a couple of relatives tried it and literally within 2 or 3 minutes they were almost asleep..... and this was at 11am!!!

The supplied phone is a bit crappy though.... a binatone cheapie that would probably cost 10 - 15 pounds. I'll stick with my Panasonic DECT phone.

This chair is probably not a good idea to watch films on.. It has a sleep inducing affect that is nearly impossible to resist.
I plan to watch a film tonight......., but I wonder how long I'll last before nodding off!

I'd probably agree that the La-z-boy was a silly purchase really.
Very comfortable, but not £1000 comfortable!.

Some things I should point out to anyone thinking of getting a la-z-boy:

    - if you have low blood pressure, you shouldn't use the massaging unit.
    - the cooler is not a fridge. It will keep pre-chilled items cool but not cold.
    - the cooler makes a buzzing sound that is louder than my HS50 projector (the HS50 is very quiet thought)
    - if you've got short legs, your feet won't touch the ground! This chair is big.
    - the back of the chair is very high, and you may have to raise the height of your rear speakers.

All the reviews you find online rave about this chair, and it is indeed very comfortable. But as a new owner, I'd urge a little caution. £1000 is alot of money and I don't think it is worth it.

I have low blood pressure, short legs, I get annoyed by buzzing sounds when I'm watching a movie, and my room has a low ceiling which means I can't raise the rear speakers high enough.

Ahh well, it does double as wonderfully comfortable bed!

Sorry you feel like that Jules, but at the same time thanks for making me feel better about my purchase :smashin:

I had been trying to justify spending a grand on a chair for months, but when I saw those recliners in Homebase,it just seemed like more common sense to get them instead(I know common sense is not very errr ,common when buying av gear  )At £170 pound a pop,I could buy 2 rows of these beauties for the same price as 1 Lazyboy

Could anyone tell me where i could buy new cinema style chairs? I need to stack 4 chairs in a row and only have about 5.5 feet in which to do it. I've seen essex upholstery's site, but was looking for something a bit cheaper than the £170 odd each, they charge. For the curious, its for my 4 little boys who will be seated behind me in our (hopefully) soon to be converted garage!

    Many thanks

    Fahad

Those who bought the Homebase chairs: how have they lasted? Are they really comfy for a 2 hour game/film session?

    My Homebase recliner arrived yesterday

    it's very comfortable

however, although it arrived in a closed position, I can't now make the footrest part stay down? I've had a look at the mechanism underneath but can't seem to see the problem - nothing looks loose or broken :(

    any ideas ?

I want one of these la-z-boy cool chairs in brown.

Is reclinerworld the best place to buy? Also, what is the standard leather like, as they do a £185 extra option for Grade 4 leather? I dont want to spend a grand on a chair with what looks like cheap leather and wish I'd spent the extra afterwards!

I also want one that swivels. Is this standard or an extra as ive seen it mentioned on some websites but reclinerworld doesnt mention it at all.

    Thanks.
