    Hi all

Does anyone use the RGB of DVD playback on this set ? If so is the picture OK ?

The problem I have is that the picture flickers intermittently :(

It seems to be when the picture content is quite contrasty (ie outdoor scenes) and is as though the RGB circuits cannot handle signals of a larger amplitude.

I've tried composite and S-Video and both are fine, however the quality is obviosly not as good.

I have an engineer calling to have a look at this fault (among others) with the view to exchanging the set (it's less that 2 weeks old) and I need to be sure that this is a 'one off' and not a stock fault.

I have noticed a problem with picture flickering too, its only happened twice and turning the set off seems to cure this.

I am also interested to find out if this has happened to anyone else ?

    cheers

Mine doesn't do this but I have the 28" model. There is some minor line flicker though which is most noticeable on DVD menus and my Pace digibox EPG, but is nothing more than what you would see on a 50Hz TV. It's to be expected since this model provides plain 100Hz and you would need further digital processing to eliminate this. Perhaps this is what you are both seeing, although if turning the set on/off cures it then it does sound like a fault unfortunately!

It really does sound like a fault if it's intermittent ... (I'm assuming you are using good quality scart cables)

At first i thought it was the scart, i use a QED RGB only squart lead, 1m costs £50. But having tried other cables i think its the tv.
If i can get the fault to happen again i may return the tv to the shop.

    cheers

You say you've only seen it do it twice, mine does it every time in the same place in a movie (ie a scene with an area of sky or some other bright object)

I've only had the set 2 weeks so I havent obviously been though my entire collection but the ones I have watched and seen it on are Jaws (quite a few of the outdoor scenes) and Basic Instinct (at the beachhouse about 15 mins into the film).

The flicker isnt major just irritating.

An engineer came to have a look at the set yesterday to varify various problems (RGB flicker, a buzzing noise & incorrect black level) and the upshot is they are delivering a replacement next week so finger crossed.
