Kuros Vs New TVs

Hello everyone,

My question is simple. How do the discontinued Pioneer Kuro televisions compare to new tvs? Are the best of the best new technologies superior to the Kuro? I own an 8th gen Kuro and I still think it puts out a very good picture. I haven't seen any new televisions. I don't really keep up with technology that much. Since I bought the Kuro I own, I have started to really value deep black levels on displays. I am still happy with this tv, but I want to know how newer HDTVs compare. I mean, we are talking about technology that is over four years old at this point. Who has taken up the mantle as technology leader for the enthusiast after Pioneer stopped making tvs?

If I was buying a new television and wanted the best picture quality possible, what would you suggest I buy? Does anything beat a Pro-101fd or KRP-500M?

How about the 8th gen Kuros? Are they still impressive today?

The Pioneer Kuro's are considered by many people to be the best tv's ever made. Still in this age 3-4 years later, nothing has beaten them.
In short, if there is nothing wrong with your set and you're still happy with it, don't bother replacing it as you may be disappointed. =)

There was a very recent discussion on this forum on this very same topic.. Do a quick search! As for whether anything has beaten the kuro yet depends on what you want. Kuro can't do 3d at all for example.. There was a review of a recent Panasonic (vx300) on this site recently that said it was slightly better overall than the kuro. But then it was £8000!!

This has been done to death over the last year. The closest you will get not for stupid money is the Panasonic VT30 though it has issues sadly. The black level is around Kuro8 levels and in some areas its a better set. The problem is with all this 3D and other new features coupled with cost cutting to get prices lower, Panasonics are having all sorts if issues.
Id wait and see what 2012 brings.
