This is available from the 1st of Nov in either a 3 disc or 4 disc set. Does anybody know what the difference is?

I've just cancelled my R2 order after reading your post.

As far as I can see the R1 is 4 disc, has confirmed special features, is not forced widescreen and is not out until Jan. The R2 is out in November but AFAIK is widescreen and has no confirmed special features.

    DVD Release Date: 18/01/2005
    SPECIAL FEATURES
    • Audio Commentary: By David Carradine on two episodes: "The Well" and "The Chalice".
    • Featurette: "Zen & Now: A Dinner with David Carradine and Friends" three featurettes hosted by David Carradine and special guests including Vivica A. Fox and Micheal Madsen.

Actually I think that it's more complicated than that. Some retailers say that the R2 box set is 4 discs and some 3. None report any extras.

My R1 box set has arrived. It has four flipper discs the same as R2.

The differences are important. The R2 version has artificial widescreen (tops and bottoms cut off) and no extras. The R1 is in 4:3 and has commentary on two episodes plus a 40 minute extra of Carradine having dinner with celeb mates and discussing the series.
