Bought the region 3 DVD off Ebay. Typical Chinese humour with some very silly kung fu scenes. Made me laugh though - I think I'll have to get Shaolin Soccer out as well. If you like this sort of film maybe you should take a look at Stephen Chow's older chinese movies. The humour's not as refined and the effect's aren't as polished but might be worth seeking out.

Still haven't seen Kung Fu Hustle but can thoroughly recommend Shaolin Soccer. Literally one of the funniest films I've seen for an age!

KFH is amazing, blows hoollywood crap out of the water. Whats not to like, excellent characters, funny, great fights, wicked sound, you cannot be disappointed. One of my favs ever.

Generally I liked the film but as always with this genre of chinese kung fu flicks, found the humour very slapstick and trying to fill in the gaps. Similar comparisions are the Fong Sai Yuk Jet Li films and as mentioned Shaolin Soccer.
When Shaolin Soccer was released it was endorsed by the Chinese Government as to promote the revival of controlled martial arts to the public to make them look compassionate, quite a few references in the film to this and a simliar overtone in KFH. Sorry for sounding nerdy but I have been watching these since the 70's.When are we going to get movies that do not emphasise so much on special effects and more on fighting skills?

....yes, if you like incest that is. I don't think "mental bloke does a little bit of beating up but shags his daughter as well, along with the main evil bloke shagging his sister." quite matches up what I was expecting..
I found it a bit grim...after all it was hyped up to be "mental bloke goes around killing people for most of the film" only. Kind of like Hard Boiled but with a vengeance....none of this other sick sh**
    But that's just my taste...

WRT Kung Fu hustle...I've only seen bits of it so far and it looks quite funny. You guys have added Shoalin Soccer to my list of must sees :D
