I have not seen a top fu flick for ages so will looking out to buy some soon.
Instead of the usual classy chan type stuff looking for sword play 'epic' action.

Has anyone seen either HERO or MUSA THE WARRIOR?
Thinking about buying the region 3 versions of these from cd-wow so was wondereing if these are any good.

Any views on either of these film or any other recomendations?

    Cheers.:smoke:

Hero is amazing better than even crouching tiger. Here's a few I've watched recently and recommend highly:-

    Shoalin Soccer
    Volcano High
    Bichunmoo
    Returner
Once upon a time in china series
    Fong Sai Yuk
    Kiss Of The Dragon
    Swordsman I&II
    New Dragon Gate Inn
    Zipang

I loads more if you want any more:D

Once saw one called Famous Dubei dao (One Armed Swordsman) HERE it was one of those dubbed movies. It is some time ago since I saw it but it could be rubbish compared with today’s stuff but at the time I enjoyed it.
There is also a number of One Armed Swordsman films if you just enter it in the search at IMDB.

    Nobody seen MUSA THE WARRIOR?

Looks like I will doing HERO, will probably order it over the weekend. Cheers chaps!.

    Hawklord,

BICHUNMOO is some thing I have also been thinking about getting for a while. What's it like, anything you can compare it to?

Can't really afford just to splash out these day's so I am being more selective. Done/got all the usuals. Stopped buying due to ugrades, etc.

    Garrett,

Could be tempted to have a look at DUBEI DAO, looks as though it could be a good sunday afternooner/evening.

Out of interest does anyone know if BLADE OF FURY (one of my faves) has a dvd release worth buying? Also looking for BURNING PARADISE on dvd.

Bichunmoo is worth adding to your collection if you like this genre. It's got all the usual sword play and kung fu with varying styles. Heres a synopsis:-

The Highest Budget in Korean Film History!

A Breathtaking & Spectacular Martial Arts Action Epic Romance of Love, Revenge and Destiny among 3 fated lovers.

    possible spoilers:-

At the end of the Yuan Dynasty, when Mongolia was ruling all of the Chinese continent, the Mongolians, the Hans and the Koryo (ancient Korean) migrants were going through racial conflicts while experiencing the strife of local barons' rivalry.

Jinha (Shin Hyun Joon), son of a Koryo migrant falls for Sullie (Kim Hee Sun), illegitimate daughter of a Mongolian commander. After some time, Jinha knows the secret of his parents' death. Sullie's father, Taruga wants to kill Jinha for his Bichun Secret Arts, the strongest martial secret. Nevertheless, it can't stop them from heading for a hiding place to love each other. Caught by Tiruga, Jinha is shot by arrows and falls from a cliff. Miraculously brought back to life, Jinha is reborn as Jahalang, a hired assassin, and is back for revenge. This martial-arts love story depicts the conflicts that the lovers face, as they struggle with their feelings and their fate.

You can't mean the 1977 version starring Chen Kwan Tai??

It is almost unwatchable. The acting / dubbing is 1 thing but the copy I have (pal region 0 if that makes a difference) is almost completely yellow/green in colour. I can't believe a reproduction of a seventies film could be so bad. Waste of money that one.:(

I know Matrix 1 & 2 aren't strictly oriental kungfu flicks. But theyre is plenty of kunfu action stuff in there. My personal fav is
Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon,Iron Monkey and Jet Li - The Defender.

Drunken Master 1 & 2 are both top imo.

Drunken Master 2 has one of the best fight scenes ever and some crazy Jackie Chan stunts perfect post pub viewing.

Good Call!!Finaly got round to watching Hero (not for lack of trying) and it is class. A little bit too crouching tiger, but then............ Just what I was after. Wanted to knack everyone after watching (not sure if this is the norm...seems to be).

However, has anyone else had any problems with there R3 copy of Hero. First one wouldn't even play so had to get a swap then second arrived and showed signs of poor manufacturing and is marked/pitted between the actual layers on the disc. Could be a bad batch?

Looking forward to seeing Naked Weapon when it is released, anyone seen or got any comments?

    Drunken Master:-

Yup!! Drunken Master 2.......could not argue otherwise with that one!
