Ok so I've never been able to spell it.
Got this the other day ( must be a real kick in the teeth for the fans who forked out for the directors private pressing version $150 for a questionable transfer in a paper sleave....)
Anyway watched a bit of this the other night and its as spellbinding as ever. The transfer is ok .. its anamorphic and 1.85 ( slight padding to fit it into a 16x9 window in its entirity probably a good thing) . There is some noticable weave on a lot of the footage which is to be expected as a lot of it is stock footage.
for those that don't know it a collection of images that juxtapose modern world vs natural world set to some fantastic music by Philip Glass. It sounds naff and pretentious and it probably is to a certain extent but I still find it really watchable and thought provoking on both a thematic and aesthetic level.
I also got the sequel powaqatssi which I've not seen yet but is generally less well thought of ( contrasts the developing world with western society I think)
